Objective: Technical support during reactivation of the DP3 Semi-Submersible ‘Bluewhale 2’ at Yantai Shipyard, China.
Consulting – Technical Section Leader
Pelago Management provided technical support to relieve the Technical Section Leader during the reactivation program for the DP3 Semi-Submersible Bluewhale 2 at Yantai Shipyard, China.
Key Activities:
- Provided Technical Section Leader support during the reactivation program.
- Relieved the existing Technical Section Leader for a five-week period at Yantai Shipyard.
- Coordinated and supported ongoing technical, maintenance, repair, and reactivation activities across the rig’s technical disciplines.
- Supported technical troubleshooting, prioritization of outstanding work, and coordination between the rig team, shipyard, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Reviewed the technical condition and outstanding work scope with consideration for both immediate reactivation requirements and longer-term asset integrity.
- Applied experience from Bluewhale 1 and Bluewhale 2 D90 design, construction, SPS, operational phases, and shipyard reactivation activities.
Outcomes:
- Delivered short-term technical leadership support for the reactivation of Bluewhale 2
- Supported continuity in the Technical Section Leader role during a critical phase of the reactivation program.
- Played a key role in establishing a plan for the upcoming SPS on Bluewhale 2
